Access & Space
This tip shows how to set up Audio Control for easy access and saving space. Consider this starting appearance of Audio Control and make the following adjustments:
Set the On Top style to On - this makes the Audio Control always visible/accessible so no need for it to be on the taskbar.
Set the Taskbar style to Off, i.e. free the space Audio Control occupies on the taskbar.
Set the Title Bar style to Off – there is no need from title bar (save space), the title bar responsibilities are delegated to other controls.
Select the Audio Mixer you would like to control - in case there is more than one available sound system.
Select the Audio Destination Line to be displayed in Minimal 2 and Minimal 1 view modes.
Select Minimal 1 view mode.
From Context Menu choose Customize -> Minimal 1 View Margins -> 0 pt per side.
Set number of visible mixer entries to 1 (simply Resize or use Context Menu -> Customize -> View Height in Entries -> 1).
Move Audio Control to the top right part of the screen (use Context Menu -> Move).
The result should be similar to the image below. As usual to change the output volume one only needs to click on an appropriate control.

Access & Idle
This tip shows how to set up Audio Control for easy access and least disruption when watching a movie on PC. Consider this starting appearance of Audio Control and make the following adjustments:
Set the On Top style to On – this is to make Audio Control always accessible and because most players are always on top windows.
Set the Title Bar style to Off - no need from title bar – saves space and looks better.
Set the taskbar style to Off - free the space Audio Control occupies on the taskbar.
Select the Audio Mixer you would like to control.
Select the Audio Destination Line to be displayed in Minimal 2 and Minimal 1 view modes.
Set any [Go a way] Idling mode e.g. Fade.
Select Minimal 2 view mode.
Set number of visible mixer entries to 2 (simply Resize or use Context Menu -> Customize -> View Height in Entries -> 2).
Move Audio Control to any part of the screen where it would be most convenient, e.g. the bottom right hand side of screen where the movie players usually do not show any part of the film.
If your player is set to full screen it will most certainly be an always on top window. This means that Audio Control might become hidden behind it. For example when you click on the player window you request from the system to make it a top window and if it is an always on top window type of window it will hide Audio Control. To bring Audio Control as a top window use Alt-Tab. A few moments after the user input becomes idle Audio Control will disappear. As soon as user input occurs then Audio Control will reappear maintaining its top position.
The reason for using 2 Mixer Entries is that most players control the sound through the Wave Audio source line, while the Volume Audio source line might still be very important and give additional adjustment freedom. Typical use would be like the following image (the size of the screen is disproportional to the size of Audio Control):

Extra Amplification
Sometimes the amplitude of the audio output signal may be insufficient and as such the user may be unable to properly hear the output sound. Possible reasons could be the output device e.g. headphones, or too low level of the input signal.
One possible solution of the problem is installing a secondary audio device in the system, where the analog output from the first audio card is connected to the analog input of the second audio card and the input of the output device (e.g. the headphones) is connected to the output of the second audio card. This type of connection is called cascading and the number of involved sound cards is limited by the host system and the type of cards being used. To make this work, assuming all other conditions are met, you need to make sure that the name of the first (starting the cascade) audio device is selected as "Default device" in the "Sound playback" frame in the "Audio" tab in "Sound and Audio Device Properties" box located in the Control Panel.
Audio Control's abilities (including easy switching between Audio Mixers) makes it the perfect controlling utility for any system using a similar solution.
